Susana Scott is the founder and President of Brematson Disability and Associates Inc, a national fee-for-service advocacy organization. The company’s creation in 2004 was a direct result of Susana’s personal experience with disability issues which she encountered when her daughter was born with Spina Bifida in 2002.

Because of Susana’s experience as a Special Assistant to the President of the Treasury Board of the federal government of Canada, her knowledge of government processes is vast. Through this, she developed expertise in navigating government bureaucracy and interpreting legislation. Susana’s vision for Brematson Disability and Associates Inc. is to educate, build connections and advocate for disabled individuals across Canada. She has also developed a network of corporate clients that utilize Brematson’s disability case management services.

In addition to her advocacy work, Susana has made a point to contribute to the disability community. She sponsored the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities (SMD) All Abilities Dance Group and the SMD Dancing with Celebrities fundraiser. Her support of the City of Winnipeg, Sponsor Winnipeg initiative has resulted in two programs at the Millennium Library. These programs are the Adaptive Book Collection for children with learning disabilities, and the Sign-A-Story program for deaf children.

Susana’s outreach strives to inform and educate regarding disability issues and programs. She has presented to such organizations and companies as the UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers), K C Dyslexic Learning Centre, the ADHD group, Canada Pacific Retirees, WRENS, Autism Society Manitoba, Fibromyalgia Association, Assisted Community Living, Injured & Disabled Workers Centre, Cancer Care, the Hearing Centre and the Brain Injury Association of Canada.

A passionate disabilities advocate, thought leader, and charismatic public speaker, Susana has an innate ability to captivate an audience. She’s a TEDx speaker and featured guest speaker for the National Orthopedic Convention and Health, Wellness Conference and others.

Susana’s efforts have included lobbying the Provincial government for accessibility rights legislation in Manitoba. This has resulted in an Accessibility Advisory Council Act and the Passage of Strong and Effective Accessibility-Rights Legislation.  She currently sits on the board at Variety Manitoba, the children’s charity of Manitoba. Susana leads the Community Engagement Committee evaluating and recommending marketing initiatives to help support Variety’s fundraising and marketing goals.
